The snow fell. It was quiet and cold. They walked but did not talk. She started to cry. He turned his face. He could not watch. As his beloved slowing withered away. They had been walking for so long and yet they saw no sights of searchers or civilization. There car had crashed 3 days before. They stopped walking and look at each other. They knew it was to late. They were to far lost. They young lovers sat under some old trees and held each. Both for warmth and love. “Jim” spoke a soft voice. “What is it Mary?” he replied. “Are we going to die?” He looked into her tear stained face. “I don’t know. But lets not think about that Mary.“ He held her tighter. “Do you remember the sunflowers? Mary?” She closed her eyes. “Yes I do!” “Just think about all those sunflowers and the warm summer winds. Remember all the fun we had at your uncles farm?” “Yes Jim. I can almost smell the sunflowers.” Time past slowly. “I’m cold Jim. I’m really cold.” “I know Mary. I know.” Night fell and they saw a vision of a women in red with ribbons of black. She didn’t speak. She only held out her welcoming hands. She smiled at the young lovers. They took her hands and faded into smell of summer sunflowers.
